We left Devils Tower View Campground on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at 8 am and drove 5 hours to Cross Roads RV Park in Shoshoni, Wyoming for a one-night stay. It was a pretty uneventful drive except that we called our oldest grandson. Not for anything special like his birthday or anything like that, just to call and catch up with him and tell him we love him.
I also forgot to tell you about something we saw during one of our earlier drives and since this is a fairly short post it seems like a good time to share it.
We were driving along and up ahead on our right was a large, empty field with grass, a few trees and little else. Then we saw something in the middle of the field. It was a household stove, painted yellow and the door of the oven was open. On top of the stove was a large sign that in big, red letters read:
OPEN RANGE
I wish we had been able to get a photo of it.
Cross Roads RV Park
Cross Roads RV Park in Shoshoni, Wyoming is a small RV park in the middle of a residential area. The sites are gravel, fairly level with full hook-ups and narrow strips of grass separating each site. Check-in is done online, so there was no one to check you in at the park or to ask questions of if you needed to do so. Fortunately, we did not.
No fire pit or even a picnic table, but neither mattered to us as we were only there for one night.
We were tired when we arrived. I had a nice conversation with my friend Kirk, then we had dinner and streamed the Monday and Tuesday episodes of “The Daily Show” sine we had a good Internet connection. Monday’s episode was hosted by Jon Stewart, as it usually is these days, and Tuesday’s was hosted by one of our favorite hosts, Desi Lydic. She is much funnier, to us, than the other fill-in hosts that rotate in and out.
We had another long driving day ahead of us, so we were in bed and sleeping soundly by 9 pm.
Thanks for following The Wandering Wetheringtons.
