Thursday morning, October 17th, we left Cloudland Canyon State Park and drove 3 1/2 hours south to Whitetail Ridge Campground outside of LaGrange, Georgia for a six-night stay. Thankfully, we left Cloudland Canyon State Park down the other side of the mountain which was not filled with tight switchbacks like the side we came up on.
Whitetail Ridge Campground
Whitetail Ridge Campground is a United States Army Corps of Engineers recreational facility on the western shore of West Point Lake. West Point Lake is a man-made lake that spans parts of western Georgia and eastern Alabama and has 525 miles of shoreline through both states. There are 58 campsites with electric and water hookups, as well as hot showers, laundry facilities and a dump station. There are ample opportunities and locations for fishing, boating, bike riding, hiking and other recreational activities.
Our site had a concrete pad for the travel travel trailer which was very level. When Cindy booked this campground the description said the site was “water adjacent” but the drought has been so bad that what was actually adjacent to our site was a dried out lakeshore. But the parts of the lake we could see were beautiful and Cindy got some great photos of the full moon over the lake as well as early morning lake mist hovering above the water’s surface.
Relaxing
This stay is mostly us relaxing and not doing much more than walking Bella, grocery shopping and laundry. We’re going to have a couple of short stays and then two months or so of an almost non-stop, hectic schedule in Florida. Some is the good kind of hectic like spending time with family and friends, while some is the bad kind of hectic like medical appointments and other scheduled activities.
The highlight of our grocery shopping was that there was a Publix nearby! Yay! We love shopping at Publix whenever we can. But it’s usually not until we get to the southeastern states since they’re not all over the country (like they should be!), lol!
And we spent Tuesday going over our sample ballots and researching any candidates and issues we weren’t familiar with. We’ll be voting early on October 26th in Orlando with some family members and, as always, we like to be informed about our choices.
Thanks for following The Wandering Wetheringtons.
