On Thursday, June 12th we left Cross Roads RV Park at 9:15 am for a 5 1/2 hour drive to Juniper Campground in Ririe, Idaho. We’re only staying two nights, so we’re still moving fast during this phase, but hopefully not breaking anything. Don’t want to be like Zuckerberg.
The Grand Tetons
Our route took us over the Continental Divide, past the Grand Tetons and through the Teton Pass. We had many 10% grades up AND down on hairpin curves. Poor Cindy was almost catatonic by the time we got through.
We also saw a mama moose and her baby cross the road in front of us, which Cindy just loved. So it wasn’t all hair-raising hell for her.
And we saw some crazy drivers. I get not wanting to be behind an RV, I don’t like it either. But when you pass on curves and no-passing lanes, you’re really being pretty idiotic. Stupidly idiotic.
Juniper Campground
We arrived at Juniper Campground around 2:45 pm. We were in a pull-through site on a fairly level asphalt pad with full hookups. While we were setting up it was 78 degrees and the sun was blazing hot. I was happy not to be cold while Cindy was wishing for cool breezes.
We relaxed Thursday night; some reading for both of us and writing for me while Cindy tatted or cross-stitched (I can never tell them apart).
After walking Bella around the campground Friday morning, we drove into nearby Ammon, a suburb of Idaho Falls, to pick up some groceries and a prescription and to fuel up Voyager.
We spent Friday evening streaming Thursday’s episode of “The Daily Show” before deciding that we’d both like to watch “You’ve Got Mail” because it had been a long time since either of us had seen that movie. Hard to beat a duo like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan for entertainment.
