Clarcona Horse Park in Apopka, Florida December 13 – 20, 2024

NOTE: Today is an important day in the history of America. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2025 as we observe a day of service to our country.

On Friday, December 13, 2024 we left Magnolia Park and drove a long, exhausting 10 minutes to Clarcona Horse Park in Apopka, Florida for a 7-night stay. I could really get used to this driving short distances to our next stop, lol!

We had a nice, pull-through site that was level with water and electric. This was another one of those parks where they put the water outlet on one side of the site and the power pedestal on the opposite side. It’s a strange set-up, but fortunately our water hose was long enough to run under Nomad from the outlet to the opposite side where our water intake valve was located.

Clarcona Horse Park

Clarcona Horse Park is an Orange County Park with 28 sites for RV’s and tents. The park has no dump site, but fortunately we had just come from a park with one and were heading to our next stop which had full hook-ups. The park is appropriately named as it features horse stables/stalls, show rings with judging towers and bleacher seating. We were thinking that our youngest granddaughter Jade (who is a budding horsewoman) would love this place; but sadly there were no shows or training events while we were there.

After we got set-up two Sand Hill Cranes came by our site to welcome us to the park. We saw, and heard, them roaming around the park and campground the entire week we were there. They pretty much had the run of the place.

Once we were set up, I drove Cindy into Orlando so she could spend the weekend with Amber and Abby. They had plans to spend the weekend at Universal Studios and I had no interest in that craziness.

Red One and The Boys

I came back to Nomad after dropping Cindy off and watched “Red One” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Chris Evans.

The previous week I had opted NOT to go see it in a nearby theater for two reasons:

  1. I don’t like going to the movie theater. People are rude and act like they are in their own home watching TV instead of being at a shared experience with others where common courtesy should apply.
  2. “Red One” wasn’t tearing up the box office. I had the thought that Amazon, since “Red One” was a Christmas movie, MIGHT move it to streaming before the current Christmas season passed.

Turned out I was right, so I’m glad I waited and could watch it in the comfort of my own mobile abode.

The movie, in my opinion, was really entertaining. I’ll be getting Cindy to watch it when she returns home and see what she thinks.

After sleeping in a bit (Bella still has to go out for her morning potty break, you know) on Saturday morning I decided to start watching season four of “The Boys” instead of waiting until 2026 when season five is scheduled to come out. I had thought I would watch both seasons at that time, but at my age you don’t know how much longer you have left on this plane of existence.

Toilets and Yuletide Gift Wrapping

On Sunday morning I tried squeezing my considerable bulk into the obviously inconsiderable space behind our RV toilet to see if I could fix the flush controller myself. It was a failed effort and it seems obvious the entire toilet has to come out in order to make any repairs. I really don’t want to do that, so it might be time to call in a mobile RV tech.

Then I spent the rest of the day wrapping the Xmas gifts we have purchased so far for personal exchanging. It’s not that I enjoy wrapping them, but Cindy hates wrapping them so I take care of it. Much the same way she takes care of things I don’t like doing. That’s how partnerships and relationships work.

Believe me, it’s much better than handing out gifts from us that have been wrapped in the Sunday newspaper color comics section.

Sunday night I finished watching season four of “The Boys” and watched the movie “Catch Me if You Can” since this was another one I hadn’t seen before when it was originally released in 2002. It was an “OK” movie but not one I’d really care to watch again.

The West Orange Trail

Monday the 16th Abby had to return to school so Cindy and Amber made a mother/daughter trip to Universal and got to spend some fun time together. I, on the other hand, washed all the dirty dishes I had been piling up in the kitchen sink and cleaned up Nomad before Cindy’s return the next day.

Tuesday, after picking up Cindy, we ran some errands and walked Bella together. Bella liked that because she had only had me to walk her the past few days. On Wednesday and Thursday we took Bella on a longer hike on portions of the West Orange Trail and spotted a Gopher Tortoise guarding its nest.

Friday, the 20th it was time to pack everything up and get ready for our move to our next spot where we’d be spending the Christmas/New Years holidays.

Thanks for following The Wandering Wetheringtons.
