Friday, November 24th we left Wekiva Springs State Park and drove about 40 miles to Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont for another 14-night stay. That is the limit every 30 days at Florida State Parks so…
We’re staying in a different loop and site this time, one we haven’t been in before. It was OK. Our neighbors across the road had a cat that roamed free (something I wouldn’t advise in the land of gators, but oh well…) and one of the first night’s we heard him howling in the trees/bushes next to our screen room. As I went out with a flashlight its owner was a voice in the dark asking if that was his cat. I said I assume so but I can’t see it yet. The owner joined me in the bushes and I saw his cat’s eyes reflecting the flashlight beam and then spotted another, silent cat about two feet from it and they were having a stare down. The owner tried to get his cat and it ran off back to their RV, but about an hour later was back in the bushes having another meeting with the silent cat. They were either fighting or dating, not sure which.
One of the reasons we like this park is they have washers and dryers that take credit cards. That way you don’t always have to have quarters. But during this stay their network was down and no credit card charges would go through so you HAD to use quarters, of which we had none. And their little local shop would not sell you quarters. So we had to wait until a couple of days later to get quarters from the bank and do our laundry. Good thing we had plenty of clean clothes.
And, of course, since it’s now after Thanksgiving the Christmas decorations HAVE to go up! Even though we still have to pack them up when we leave here and put them up again and so on and so on, lol. But it’s good; they brighten up the place and make Cindy happy.
On Monday, the 27th I drove Cindy down to Disney’s corporate office in Celebration, Florida so she could meet her friend and former co-worker Kristen for lunch. I decided to go to the nearby Applebee’s for lunch and a few minutes later in walked Cindy and Kristen. They had decided on Applebee’s as well, lol. I waved them on by as they passed my booth and they ended up two booths behind me. Somehow, I ended up with the bill for both tables!
Thursday the 30th was a VERY busy day full of appointments. But our day started out nicely with a sighting of a mama and baby deer as we were leaving the park. Then it was on to the vet’s to drop Bella off her annual shots and a much-needed grooming. Afterward we had a couple of medical appointments for Cindy before we grabbed a quick lunch at a new pizza place – Muzzarella’s. Very tasty.
Then it was on to JoAnn’s so Cindy could shop while I went into the nearby Petco looking for a new doggie-poopie bag holder for Bella’s leash. None for sale that would work for us.
I returned to Voyager and sat in the parking lot waiting for Cindy to finish in JoAnn’s along with other spouses/partners doing the same. We are a diverse gathering of waiters. SO diverse that there are a couple of wives waiting on their husbands to finish shopping in JoAnn’s. The wives looked as bored as the husbands, lol.
While I was sitting there reading I would look up every several seconds to see if Cindy was on her way out the door. I watched a woman who looked to be at least 75-80 years of age with expensively coiffed hair wearing a glittering top and leather pants (upscale Winter Park is not far away) push her cart across the lot to a nearby Prius. She transferred her purchases to the car and then couldn’t be bothered to walk a half-parking space over to put her cart in a stall. She just left it sitting in the parking space next to her car door. Some people feel SO entitled.
Our final stop was back to the vet to pick up Bella. She was so happy to see us when they brought her into the exam room! We were sad to hear a child crying in a nearby room because their beloved pet was crossing the rainbow bridge. We’ll know that sadness ourselves soon enough.
We spent a few hours on the 1st doing our online Christmas shopping. We hope we got everyone at least something that they wanted.
Saturday, December 2nd we met our friends Kirk and Laura for dinner at Toojay’s. Always enjoy the dishes there and the chance to visit with our friends. Then I dropped Cindy off at Amber’s on the way back to Nomad.
December 3rd Cindy, Amber and Abby used the second of their two-day passes to visit Universal Studios again. They assure me they had a good time.
Happy 18th Birthday to our granddaughter Charlotte on Tuesday, December 5th. We took the family out for her birthday dinner and had a delightful time at TGIFriday’s. She is growing into such an awesome young woman and it is so hard to believe that it was 18 years ago that she entered our lives. It seems like yesterday.
Wednesday, December 6th I drove Cindy to meet her friend (and mine) Caroline for lunch while I got to enjoy Chinese food at the nearby Crazy Buffet. Sadly, the only really crazy thing about it was the price. It has been amazing how the prices have risen over the past 3 years (like everything else) and yet the quality has not kept pace. But, the only time I get to indulge is when Cindy is eating somewhere else as she has no appetite for Asian cuisine.
On the way back driving through the park we saw a handsome hawk posing for us on one of the bat-boxes.
We left Lake Luisa State Park on Friday, December 8th and drove north to Lake Grifffen State Park for another 14 night stay.
Thanks for following The Wandering Wetheringtons.
